In MMA, (Mixed Martial Arts), the objective is to make your opponents submit
by applying painful holds and strikes, (punches and kicks). In amateur MMA punches are allowed to any part of the body except the head, (we all have to go to work the next day...) There are no points decisions; each of the 3 rounds continues until one fighter submits. The fighters wear fight shorts and grappling mitts, (gloves which allow both striking and grappling); wrestling boots are optional. The full rules can be seen by clicking here. MMA is tough but not dangerous. Although you may end up a bit sore and pick up the occasional bruise on the body you are more likely to get injured playing football. The coaches will teach you a range of holds and escapes with an overriding emphasis on safety. The courses will take place in the Kwun Tong combat gym pictured on the front page of this website.
